CHURCH COMMITTEES Members of our congregation are encouraged to give their time and talent to the glory of God. Various church committees are in place channel our work in a productive fashion. Altar Guild The Altar Guild members work in teams, rotating on a monthly basis, to prepare the church for weekly worship. This includes cleaning brass fixtures, changing paraments and linens, etc. Additionally the Guild coordinates congregational orders for holiday flowers and assists with decorating for special events. Benevolent Foundation The Benevolent Foundation was formed in 1989 as a means for managing financial bequests made to the church. There are currently 3 three funds under management and each generates annual eduational scholarships: 1) the Lena Bangle Lyerly Memorial Scholarship, 2) the Brad Michael Patrick Memorial Scholarship, and 3) the Hubert and Blanche Ritchie Memorial Scholarship. Boy Scout Pack Committee Boy Scout Troop Committee Cemetery Committee Christian Education Committee The Christian Education Committee is charged with enhancing our members' exposure to God's word, primarily through a progressive Sunday School curriculum. Additionally, this committee is responsible for the annual summer Vacation Bible School program. Annual Homecoming is a highlight of the church year and this committee works to insure its success. Finally, the committee prepares treat bags for youth attending services at Christmas. Evangelism Committee Facilities Committee Fellowship Committee Flower Chart Historical Committee Landscape Committee Library Committee Pastoral Relations Committee Property Committee Social Ministry Committee The Social Ministry Committee's mission is to assist those in need throughout our community. One major emphasis is organizing assistance for and donations to Rowan Helping Ministries. Support is also generated for other causes such as World Hunger Sunday, Pregnancy Support Center, and the needy from Nazareth's Childrens' Home and area nursing homes. Sound System Committee Stewardship (Finance) Committee Usher Committee Worship Services Committee The Worship Services Committee is constantly seeking ways to improve and enhance our worship with God. Youth Committee The Youth Leaders seek to assist the 3 youth groups in achieving their mission to share their love of God, to provide each other with support and to empower one another to live a Christian life.
